Access to Mental Illness & Substance Use Disorder Care

The Idaho Behavioral Health Alliance is an advocacy network of consumers, consumer advocates and other stakeholders dedicated to elevating the conversation toward meaningful solutions for mental health, and substance use disorders. Our goal is to integrate behavioral health into Idaho’s broader health care system. We are focused on raising awareness and reducing stigma, creating a deeper understanding of the benefits of integrated health care, and maintaining and/or increasing comprehensive health coverage for vulnerable populations.

Policy Affects Lives

In February, the Idaho Behavioral Health Alliance (IBHA) participated in a Joint Health and Welfare Listening Session. IBHA coordinator Ceci Thunes testified about the importance of Medicaid expansion to the behavioral health population, as well as the importance of payment reform and the state shifting gears away from a fee-for-service model and towards a value-based care model.

In June, the Idaho Behavioral Health Alliance hosted an ‘Idaho Behavioral Health Forum’ which was dedicated to gathering feedback from consumers, consumer advocates, policymakers, and other stakeholders and to discuss how to move Idaho’s behavioral health system forward.
